Hi there! My name is Sofia, nice to meet you!

I am a UX/UI Designer originally from Brazil and currently living in Canada. My goal as a designer is to improve people's lives by creating functional, delightful and engaging experiences.

Functional: Every design decision I make is rooted in a deep understanding of both user needs and technical constraints. I believe in crafting with intentionality, ensuring that each element serves a purpose and aligns seamlessly with feasible implementation.

Delightful: Bringing delight into every interaction is central to my design approach. I'm passionate about creating experiences that leave a lasting impression, where users not only accomplish their goals but also relish the journey.

Engaging: I recognize that the true measure of success lies in user adoption and the value it brings to organizations. Therefore, I place a strong emphasis on crafting intuitive and engaging experiences through strategic design decisions that bring tangible results.

Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks, watching Korean dramas and capturing photos or videos of things that bring me joy, such as sunsets, cute animals (I can never not smile when I see a dog), food, architecture, flowers and so much more.

2018

My journey began during my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, when I worked on research in UX and Usability, which sparked my interest in the UX field. A year later, I worked as a volunteer to teach the elderly how to use phones and apps. This experience was incredibly valuable and culminated in the project GrandmaTech.

2022

Over the Summer, I worked as a UX Designer (co-op) at Athlon, a brand and product design agency. I had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, both internal and client and in different industries. The main project I undertook was a client project for Amazon. Present

Now, I am actively looking for a full-time contract or permanent position in UX/UI Design. In the meantime, I remain dedicated to honing my skills and expanding my knowledge through online courses, continuous practice, avid reading and by chatting with incredible mentors, who have shared their wisdom and insights, enriching my design journey.

2023

I started off the year working in an industry internship project, for a family doctor, Dr. Cleo Maavriplis. In this project, I spearheaded the redesign of icanbewell, a preventive health progressive web application. During Spring, I graduated from University of Ottawa with a Master's degree in UX Design.
